I am a bilingual (English/Spanish), licensed speech-language pathologist with a passion for working with individuals and their families across the lifespan in medical, educational, and in-home settings. My education includes a B.A. in Spanish Linguistics, a B.A. in Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology, and a M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology. My enjoyment of studying language and the opportunity to help and support individuals with communication needs energizes me to constantly improve and refine my practice.
My approach to therapy is one that is contextualized, naturalistic, and child & family-driven. This approach integrates drill-based, clinician-led therapy at times to best meet the needs of the individual. Therapy is driven by evidence-based practices that are meaningful for the individuals and their families and geared toward learning and transferring skills across environments. Areas of particular interest for me include articulation, motor speech, voice, early language development, and accent training. I am able to bill Medicaid and I also accept private pay.
As technology advances and the need for skilled SLPs increase, I am working to meet this demand by providing Telepractice as a service delivery model. Telepractice is not only an option for families living in rural or hard-to-access locations, but also is a convenient option for families in town. A myth regarding Telepractice is that it's not as effective as in-person service delivery. In early intervention, the focus is on the family and coaching and training the family to implement speech and language strategies in the home and across environments. Telepractice allows for families to have a recorded session to access at any time as well as being able to screen share and document share resources. It can be used exclusively or in conjunction with in-person therapy. Allow me to show that Telepractice is an effective service delivery that meets the needs of a family-driven model.
My family and I love to get outside and ride bikes, garden, hike, and play. Anytime we can get into the foothills and mountains makes for a great day in our eyes. Climbing, skiing, and biking keep us active and connected!
